All pro dad workshops

All Pro Dad's Day is a simple idea with a profound impact. It's a one-hour monthly breakfast held before school where fathers and their children meet with other dads and kids. During this time, they discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories, and are equipped with resources to strengthen their relationship.

This event is free to all Sunset students and fathers thanks to the support of the PTA.

PARTICIPATION IN GIVE MIAMI DAY

Give Miami Day is the biggest annual giving event in the Southeast United States. This year, Give Miami Day will again ignite Greater Miami for 24 hours and Sunset Elementary will be raising funds for school improvements. Give Miami Day allows all individuals in our community to make a philanthropic impact by collectively supporting local nonprofit organizations--like our PTA!

E.P.I.C. games

The EPIC Sports Fun Day and Color Run is a program that garners friendly competition amongst each grade level, while raising funds towards school beautification projects and being able to give back to the community. Funds raised not only benefit Sunset Elementary PTA to help with its programs at Sunset Elementary but also C2C, a non-profit organization whose goal is to enrich the lives of foster children and the less fortunate in our own backyard.

The PTA Reflections Program

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme.

The Reflections Program was established in 1969 by National PTA board member Mary Lou Anderson. Since that time, more than 10 million students have participated in the program. The program's longevity and participation figures attest to its strength. The excitement and enthusiasm that the program generates for children, parents, schools and communities is unmatched.

Participation in the Reflections program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.

Students can participate by interpreting the theme in any of the following arts areas. • Dance Choreography • Literature • Music • Visual Arts • Film Production • Photography
